Impeachment sends chilling warning to investigators

Democrats have been frothing at the mouth with outrage because the president had the audacity to investigate a member of their party in an election year.

They are so outraged that the only suitable remedy for this travesty is the impeachment of President Donald J. Trump.

Their outrage never extends to acts committed by Democrats because they are untouchable. The truth is impeaching the president is necessary to deter his administration from digging into the long list of corrupt acts perpetrated by members of the Democratic Party and their affiliates.

They contend there is overwhelming evidence that the president, with his lawyer Rudy Giuliani, were engaged in efforts to corrupt our elections when they were urging Ukraine to investigate rival Joe Biden and his son Hunter, an abuse of power.

Rep. David Cicilline (D-R.I.) said Wednesday Trump “wielded the enormous powers of the presidency to cheat in the 2020 election. Specifically, he used our nation’s leverage over an ally, undermining our national security to try to smear the opponent he feared most in the general election. That wasn’t an attack on Vice President Biden, it was an attack on our democracy, and if we don’t hold the president accountable for it, we will set a catastrophic precedent.”

House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler said Thursday Trump had a gun to the head of Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“The gun is the fact that the president of the United States, upon whom he depends for military aid and help in many different ways, has shown himself willing to withhold that aid and to do other things based on what he says, based on whether he is willing to play along with the president for his personal and political goals,” said Nadler.

They claim Trump has been engaged in a pattern of misconduct extending as far back as the 2016 election campaign when his egregious actions with Russia  triggered a special counsel investigation run by Robert Mueller.

Democrats, as only they can with their convoluted logic, have tied Trump, Russia and Ukraine together in a neat bow. They accuse him of facilitating Russian aggression toward Ukraine and argue he must be prevented from “corrupting” U.S. elections again by stealing a second term in 2020.

They don’t apply the same logic to the letter written in May 2018 by three Democrats, Senators Robert Menendez from New Jersey, Richard Durbin from Illinois and Patrick Leahy from Vermont, to Ukraine’s prosecutor general urging them to cooperate with the Mueller investigation into Trump and Russian interference in the 2016 election.

They don’t care that Biden bragged about strong-arming then-President Petro Poroshenko by threatening to withhold a $1 billion loan unless he fired Prosecutor Viktor Shokin, who happened to be investigating Ukraine natural gas firm Burisma Holdings while his son was a board member.

They rallied around their former presidential nominee Hillary Clinton in 2016 after she was caught using a private email server and manhandling classified information.

Their henchman, former FBI director James Comey gave her a talking-to about her “extremely careless” behavior as she skated without prosecution. Many others have served jail time for far less monumental bad acts.

They wholeheartedly supported without hesitation the special counsel investigation and a formal impeachment inquiry into Trump.

When Democrats won the majority in the House of Representatives in 2018, five committees were charged with probing Trump, issuing countless subpoenas and requests for documents.

For Democrats Trump can never be investigated enough. Their breathtaking hypocrisy would be laughable if it weren’t so dangerous to the liberty of every American citizen.
