Twitter freely peddles porn while harshly censoring conservatives

Twitter has doggedly targeted conservatives in election year 2020, setting the ground rules for engagement and dialogue on its platform.

If right-wing tweeters express thoughts that don’t align with the company’s approved philosophical perspectives, they will be unceremoniously booted from the “pious” platform. The thought cookies have already been cut into approved shapes and Twitter will not allow conservatives to bring cookies in any other dimensions to the picnic.

The platform has successfully branded itself as a high-minded media forum where publishers — large and small, politicians and political activists can reach billions of people around the globe, but Twitter is also showcasing X-rated content by the boatload with no checks and balances.

Popular conservative personalities with large followings on Twitter are being banned in succession. Over the last three years several have been permanently suspended during periodic purges from Twitter. The company has justified these unannounced purges by accusing high profile conservatives of spreading “hate speech,” violating community guidelines or violating “copyright rules.”

Conservative Canadian podcaster Stefan Molyneux’s Twitter account was suspended on July 7, just one week after he was banned from YouTube. The company claimed Molyneux “was suspended for spam and platform manipulation, specifically operating fake accounts.”

In June Twitter permanently suspended pro-Donald Trump meme account Carpe Donktum, which had 270,000 followers, for repeated violations of its copyright policy. A user tweeted, “The purge is happening 33 friends and patriots I know including @CarpeDonktum have been purged off of Twitter.”

Popular radio host Alex Jones and his InfoWars outlet were banned from Twitter on September 6, 2018. The company said it permanently suspended Jones and several affiliated accounts citing “new reports of tweets and videos posted that violated its abusive behavior policy.

Twitter Chief Executive Officer Jack Dorsey announced, “Today, we permanently suspended @realalexjones and @infowars from Twitter and Periscope. We took this action based on new reports of Tweets and videos posted yesterday that violate our abusive behavior policy, in addition to the accounts’ past violations.”

Defiant Dorsey tweeted at the time, “I want to start by making something clear: we don’t consider political viewpoints, perspectives, or party affiliation in any of our policies or enforcement decisions. Period. Impartiality is our guiding principle.”

Yet the single-minded focus of targeting censoring and removing right-leaning content producers from the platform is obvious from the lopsided statistics. Analysts have shown that conservatives are four times more likely to be accused of “neutral” policy violations than left-wing users on Twitter.

Yet accounts that openly post pornography are flourishing on Twitter. The company has allowed accounts publishing pornographic videos and photographs to peddle their content undisturbed.

Although some tweets are censored and require users to log in to view the content, that is not enough to block all the associated hardcore images on these accounts. Many images are still clearly visible to the public, which undoubtedly includes minors. The feeble attempt at censorship of pornographic images on Twitter is laughable at best. Some require extra steps for viewing but millions do not.

A warning may appear on some of these channels that reads: “Caution: This profile may include potentially sensitive content. You’re seeing this warning because they tweet potentially sensitive images or language. Do you still want to view it? Once the user hits the “Yes – View the profile” button, several x-rated images become visible with no age restriction. However the porn hashtag will bring up millions of uncensored images and posts.

A plethora of accounts can be easily found using the porn hashtag, displaying a smorgasbord of adult performers and sex workers offering services in any specialty the viewer desires. They openly operate unmolested by Twitter, peddling their wares for anyone to see, regardless of age.

Judging from appearances, Twitter has become just another Backpage.com, except the authorities have made no effort to pursue the company to shut down the unlawful activities being promoted freely on the platform.
