Lately Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has been making news of the wrong kind, triggered mainly by irritating supporters of President Donald Trump.
They know the old guy has a very short fuse and they have been following him around at his various campaign events to ‘poke the bear.’
On Friday he became embroiled in a brouhaha after unloading on Trump fans, calling them “ugly folks.”
They ran afoul of the septuagenarian when they kept interrupting him as he spoke to a crowd at a rally in St. Paul, Minnesota with honking horns, shouting “Joe’s a crook! Joe’s a crook!”
“Dr. Fauci called for a mask mandate last week. This isn’t a political statement like those ugly folks over there, beeping the horn. This is a patriotic duty for God’s sake!” Biden said angrily.
Last Saturday the former vice president, who promised to “bring us together, not pull us apart” slammed another group of pro-Trump hecklers in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
“And by the way, we don’t do things like those chumps out there with the microphone are doing, the Trump guys. It’s about decency,” he said to a noisy group waving flags and holding up Trump signs.
They seemed to have ruined Biden’s mood. At another stop he complained about Trump: “Well it is what it is because heees oooos heeees,” he slurred, which was roughly translated into “well it is what it is because he is who he is.”
He later told another crowd, “We all have known smart guys who think they’re better than you. I’m sick and tired of smart guys,” he sneered.
Viewers were collectively scratching their heads Thursday when Biden promised American farmers at another Pennsylvania rally he will do what Trump failed to do: “lead an effective strategy to Mobilize ‘Trunalimunumaprzure.’” Spellings varied as people attempted to decipher the mumblings of the former vice president.
The closest translation came from Oregonian Darcie Everton who tweeted: “Its ‘true internash of a depressure.’ The issues we care about. You just didn’t catch it because he speaks 60 ziles ex zour. Keep up.”
On Monday night the 77-year-old called attorney Doug Emhoff, the husband of Democratic vice presidential nominee Senator Kamala Harris, “Kamala’s wife” during a virtual event. “My wife Jill as you and Doug Emhoff, uh, Kamala’s wife,” Biden stuttered.
His confusion kicked in again during a concert last Sunday held by The Biden Victory Fund. The event, billed I Will Vote, was hosted by George Lopez and political commentator Ana Navarro.
“And the character of the country in my view is literally on the ballot,” Biden said as he addressed the audience. “What kind of country we’re gonna be? Four more years of George uh, George uh, he uh …. He paused to get some clarity from his whispering wife Dr. Jill Biden, then continued …. “Gonna find ourselves in a position where if, uh, Trump gets elected, uh, we’re gonna be we’re gonna be in a different world.”
There. He finally got it right.
