Presumed Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden unveiled an intriguing voter registration plan when he appeared on MSNBC’s The Reidout on Monday. Host Joy Reid asked Biden if he was prepared to “fight an election with Russia and China involved and what can you do about it?”
“Well, the only thing we can do about it is be prepared. We have a whole group of lawyers who are going out to every polling, every voter registration physician in the states, the secretaries of states, making sure that they, in fact, have a game plan as to how they’re going to allow the voting to take place. We are continuing to push what Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats in the House did.”
“We’ve 10,000 people in volunteer, we’ll try to get them plugged in as poll workers. Not for us, but running the mechanisms in the states, that they work for the state operations,” he added.
Viewers were blinking their eyes in confusion as they struggled to figure out what Old Joe was talking about, since physicians don’t typically volunteer to register voters. Host Joy Reid maintained a stone face, refusing to ask for clarity. After all, she is a card-carrying member of the Resistance and they all pretend to understand Joe’s incomprehensible ramblings.
Then again, Joe may be on to something. After all, the nation is struggling to deal with the global coronavirus pandemic. It doesn’t hurt to have physicians at the polls. Voters could get a coronavirus screening while performing their civic duty.
His wiley opponent President Donald Trump said Sunday, “Biden can’t put two sentences together. They wheel him out, he goes up, he repeats, they ask him questions. He reads a teleprompter and then he goes back into his basement,” said the president.
Coincidentally Reid asked Biden if he was committed to choosing a black woman as his vice-presidential running mate. He compared the vetting process to “a public physical examination.” Are the candidates also being vetted by his voter registration physicians?
“That is just being finished,” he said. “And I’m having a two-hour, uh, um, vetting report from the lawyers and women — women and men of color, as well as white, uh, folks who are doing the vetting. Um, and, uh, when I get all the vetting done of all the candidates, then I’m going to narrow the, the uh — the list, and then we’ll see,” said Joe as Reid looked on dumbfounded.
She stridently declared that black women were the “heartbeat” of the Democratic Party. Biden added: “And so they’re the ones, as that old saying goes, that brought me to the dance.”
He couldn’t resist taking a veiled swipe at Reid and all the black women from coast to coast demanding payback for rescuing him after they pulled him from the brink of defeat in the South Carolina primary.
“And by the way, black women have supported me my entire career,’ he said. ‘You all act like suddenly there was an epiphany in South Carolina.”
