Just when we thought we couldn’t take one more spoonful of impeachment hearings, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler served up some more – 7 hours’ worth.
America is reeling from impeachment overload and apparently Nadler is too, nodding off as he chaired his own hearing on Wednesday, to our amusement. We are glad he is getting a taste of his own medicine.
The Rasmussen daily tracking poll released Thursday had excellent news for President Donald Trump, showing that 52% of likely U.S. voters approve of his job performance while 47% disapprove. The figures show 38% strongly approve of his job performance while only 40% strongly disapprove.
Herr Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House of Representatives, announced Thursday Nadler will move forward with articles of impeachment. The news landed with a thud. It will be a pyrrhic victory for Democrats and the media who have failed to convince a critical bloc of voters this historic move is justified. At this point we are like wounded animals. Just shoot us and do it quickly. We can’t take one more round of this torture.
Pelosi was responding to a request by President Donald Trump to hurry it up so that the Senate, where Republicans have the majority, could proceed with a trial.
“The Do Nothing Democrats had a historically bad day yesterday in the House. They have no Impeachment case and are demeaning our Country. But nothing matters to them, they have gone crazy. Therefore I say, if you are going to impeach me, do it now, fast, so we can have a fair trial in the Senate, and so that our Country can get back to business,” the president goaded in a pair of tweets.
“We will have Schiff, the Bidens, Pelosi and many more testify, and will reveal, for the first time, how corrupt our system really is. I was elected to “Clean the Swamp,” and that’s what I am doing!” Trump insisted.
“[Pelosi and] the Democrats should be ashamed. [Trump] has done nothing but lead our country – resulting in a booming economy, more jobs & a stronger military, to name just a few of his major accomplishments. We look forward to a fair trial in the Senate,” White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham tweeted.
A new Hill-HarrisX poll released Wednesday revealed that less than half of voters say President Trump’s dealings with Ukraine are sufficient grounds to justify impeachment.
Only 46 percent of registered voters find Trump guilty “when judged by the constitutional standard of impeachment,” according to the nationwide survey.
Thirty-four percent said his dealings with Ukraine don’t rise to the level of impeachment, while twenty percent said they were not sure.
Seventy-seven percent of Democratic voters said Trump was guilty of an impeachable offense, compared with just 15 percent of GOP voters, a party line split.
It is high time for Democrats to get off our television screens and go back to legislating. Their impeachment screed all day and night is becoming like the sound of nails on a chalkboard.
If Democrats pass the US-Mexico-Canada trade agreement, it could bring an estimated 176,000 jobs, boost our dairy industry and our GDP by $68 billion.
If they want to be television stars they should resign. Voters elected them to legislate but they don’t seem to have much interest in doing that.
