Comedian Chelsea Handler humiliated herself Wednesday as she publicly and condescendingly attempted to tell rapper Fifty Cent who to vote for, implying he isn’t smart enough to decide for himself and conflating his options with his race.
The entertainment mogul, born Curtis Jackson, endorsed President Donald Trump on Twitter last week after ripping Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s tax plan.
Handler, who briefly dated the rapper in 2010, assumed that their old love affair gave her the standing to tweet back at him, “You used to be my favorite ex-boyfriend.”
“Oh my God this is effecting my love life now,” 50 Cent responded. “@chelseahandler I love ya Gator, don’t let Trump and Joe Biden come between us girl.”
The white nightingale also offered to pay the rapper’s taxes if he reconsidered his support for the president.
“Hey f—–! I will pay your taxes in exchange for you coming to your senses,” Handler tweeted. “Happily! Black lives matter. That’s you, f—–! Remember?”
During an interview with NBC Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon on Friday, Handler explained why she publicly criticized the rapper for supporting Trump.
“So he doesn’t want to pay 62 percent in taxes because he doesn’t want to go from ’50 Cent’ to ’20 Cent’ and I had to remind him that he was a black person, so he can’t vote for Donald Trump and that he shouldn’t be influencing an entire swath of people who may listen to him because he’s worried about his own personal pocketbook,” Handler said.
Fellow rapper Kanye West added his two cents to the controversy on Saturday’s episode of the podcast The Joe Rogan Experience.
“One of the most racist things that liberals who pride themselves on not being racist have said to me, like, ‘you’re going to split the black vote,’” West said. “That makes it seem like black people can’t make decisions for ourselves.”
“They literally make a statement that only black people will vote for me. Think about that statement! The nuance of institutionalized racism… They just have a place where no one has really been able to embrace the idea of blacks not being in a block and staying in one place.” he noted.
“You have to vote Democrat,” Rogan said.
“Yeah, or blacks having an opinion,” said West. “Like us not being on boards or us being handlers for other black people.” (Pun intended?)
Fifty Cent shared a screenshot Monday of a CNBC report on the top tax rates by state for people earning $400,000 or more under the former vice president’s proposal.
The report, citing the Tax Foundation and the Biden campaign, highlighted states that would exponentially increase taxes for top earners: California (62.6 percent), New Jersey (60 percent), New York State (58 percent), and New York City (62 percent).
“WHAT THE FK! (VOTE ForTRUMP) IM OUT…. FK NEW YORK The KNICKS never win anyway. I don’t care Trump doesn’t like black people 62% are you out of ya f**king mind,” 50 Cent wrote on Twitter.
He doubled down on his support for the president Tuesday, confirming that he’s backing Trump for re-election, saying he could become “20 Cent” under Biden’s plan. The rapper, who reportedly lives in New York City, could be hit with a 62 percent tax rate increase.
“Yeah, i don’t want to be 20cent. 62% is a very, very, bad idea. i don’t like it !” he tweeted.
A Biden administration would reverse part of Trump’s 2017 tax law that reduced the top federal rate for individuals from 39.6 percent to 37 percent.
The report noted that few, if any, taxpayers pay the full statutory rates, which don’t include deductions, credits, offsets, and other loopholes.
