Goya Foods Chief Executive Officer Robert Unanue sent Democrats off the rails last Thursday when he had the audacity to express his support for Republican President Donald Trump.
Unanue said at a White House ceremony for the President’s Hispanic Prosperity Initiative that the country was “truly blessed” to have such a leader.
“It’s such an honor and such a blessing to be here in the greatest country in the world, the most prosperous country in the world, and we continue to grow. That’s what we’re here to do today,” said Unanue.
This did not go down well with Democrats. They hate hope and prosperity. For them America is a dark, desolate place for minorities beleaguered by “systemic racism.”
Trump hosted Hispanic leaders at the White House and signed an executive order on the White House Hispanic Prosperity Initiative which aims to use more taxpayer support for private and charter schools and “improve access by Hispanic Americans to education and economic opportunities.”
Why would Democrats be so offended that Trump is busy working hard to keep the “American Dream” alive? Isn’t that what they market to attract the huddled masses from poverty stricken and war torn countries every day?
“Our company was founded in 1936 by my grandfather who left Spain at only 18-years-old, did not know where he was heading, but he was heading and looking for opportunity and prosperity. He found it in this great country,” Unanue told the audience.
“Today, our company is a multi-billion dollar company with thousands of employees and with facilities all around the globe. We have a tremendous group of what we call foreign language, the Goya family, the great Goya family.”
He praised the president for being a builder like his grandfather. “He came to this country to build, to grow, to prosper. We have an incredible builder, and we pray. We pray for our leadership, our president, and we pray for our country that we will continue to prosper and to grow,” he concluded.
Many other CEOs have endorsed the president and some have raised the ire of the Resistance, but not to this degree. The left immediately called for an economic boycott because they believe the company is taking money from Hispanics and using it to support a “nativist” political party.
The company says it employs more than 4,000 people worldwide and operates 26 facilities throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Spain. If Goya Foods goes out of business many Hispanics will lose their jobs in an era when many other companies are closing down for good because of the coronavirus pandemic. The left would rather boycott Goya Foods and destroy a successful Hispanic-owned business than tolerate a proud, successful, free-thinking Hispanic man.
The Democratic Party has always branded itself as one that loves, supports and embraces Hispanics, especially border crossers and asylum seekers from Mexico and Central America. Maybe what makes Unanue so unpalatable to Democrats, and by extension their media water carriers, is that he is successful and self made and he doesn’t need them. He stands as a symbol of success that will give Hispanics hope and political independence. That is just too dangerous for the left.
Unanue is now a rebel – a threat to the Democratic political ecosystem. He must be brought down, just like the slaves who were hunted by their slavemasters in colonial America. Democrats prefer Hispanics who have to remain in the shadows, living as an underclass without legal residency on the fringes of American society — stateless, poor and needy. They prefer the ones that will be grateful for handouts from charities and non profit organizations. They pretend to love Hispanics but they really prefer the desperate, terrified ones that can be tethered to their plantation.
